A wounded soldier is in a place that even an uncrewed ground vehicle cannot safely reach. Ukrainian troops choose another route: through the air. According to ArmyInform, a heavy Gurzuf Defence drone retrieved the soldier from the front.
Military news service ArmyInform describes how the 92nd and 30th brigades and other units worked with the manufacturer. They say mines and Russian drones made evacuation over land impossible.
The aircraft is a hexacopter, a drone with six rotors. Together they provide lift. Changing their speeds allows the flight controller to tilt, move and balance the aircraft, including with a load attached.
Carrying a person requires more than sufficient lifting power. A moving load can swing and upset the balance. The manufacturer and troops therefore adapted the aircraft for stable transport and tested it at Gurzuf Defence’s facilities beforehand.
An operator from the 30th Brigade controlled the drone. ArmyInform says the evacuation succeeded and the soldier is receiving treatment and rehabilitation.
The practical advantage is clear: an aircraft need not drive through a minefield. According to Suspilne’s interviews with the soldier and the units involved, he received instructions on securing himself and stayed in contact with them. No doctor accompanies the flight. It adds an option where ordinary evacuation cannot get through.
